Southwest new checkin program

We are taking Frontier to Ft. Lauderdale and already have assigned seats on it, but I wanted to give us a better shot of being able to sit together on the way home, which is when we are taking Southwest. Since I have to take Xanax and drink heavily when I fly, it might be an uncomfortable trip for my fellow passenger who got stuck with me if Greg and I had to be separated...

On the way there, I purchased seats 8A and 8C. We are hoping that no one buys B and if they do, then we will offer to give them the aisle seat instead of the middle....

Well, our plan on the way to Ft. Lauderdale worked....we had bought a window and an aisle seat, hoping no one would buy the middle - the plane kept filling up and there were very few empty seats when we took off, but the one between us was vacant, so we were able to throw up the arm rests and spread out. On the way home from the cruise, on Southwest, it was a packed plane..they were doing the thing where they offered you the cost of your ticket plus a voucher for $200, and a night at a hotel if you would give up your seat. We had paid the $10 each for the early bird boarding, so had group A, positions 22 and 23....again we took the window and the aisle and let someone else squeeze into the middle.
